Characteristics
Buckwheat is not part of the wheat family. It is actually a plant crop that produces a seed that is triangular in shape and has a black hull. The hull has been removed in this grain, leaving a greenish-yellow colored groat. 

Uses
Hulled Buckwheat can be ground into flour or cooked whole — a favorite addition to waffles and pancakes.
