Long Shelf Life Coffee

Finally, long-term storage coffee that tastes great. In fact, this is the best-tasting coffee you will ever have. After roasting your first batch of raw coffee beans at home, you will never want to drink store-bought coffee again.

Home Roasting Directions

  1. Preheat StovePop pan over a medium flame
  2. Add 1lb or less raw coffee beans to the pan
  3. Stir vigorously in both directions and shake occasionally - never stop stirring and shaking throughout the entire roast
  4. When you hear a crackling sound you have reached first crack (light roast)
  5. If you achieved first crack in less than 7 minutes turn the heat down a little - you want to extend the total roasting time to over 10 minutes but less than 15 minutes
  6. Start looking in the pan and listening carefully
  7. If you continue roasting there will be a second crack (dark roast) - second crack is not as loud as first crack
  8. Never roast too long after second crack or the coffee will burn
  9. Immediately pour the beans into metal colanders to cool quickly
  10. Pour beans from one colander to another repeatedly, blowing off the chaff (light flaky outer layer)
  11. Once cool, the beans can be placed in a container
  12. Ideal grinding and brewing time is 12 hours after the roast

Nicaragua - La Estrella

Nicaragua La Estrella comes from 126 small-scale producers located in Nueva Segovia approximately 150 miles from Nicaragua’s capital, Managua. This region is very close to the border of Honduras and is part of the Cordillera de Dipilto Nature Reserve. This reserve is a place rich with a great biodiversity of flora and fauna. The name Estrella comes from the Beneficio La Estrella, the coffee mill founded in 2013 in Ocotal.
